Background of the study
Student enrollment is a critical process for schools, ensuring that the correct data is recorded and that students are assigned to the appropriate classes. Traditionally, schools in Lokoja Local Government Area have relied on manual methods for student enrollment, involving the completion of paper forms, manual data entry, and physical verification of student information. While this method has been widely used, it is time-consuming, prone to human error, and inefficient in managing large volumes of student data (Adewale & Oladipo, 2023).

In contrast, digital student enrollment processes utilize software tools to collect, store, and process student data, offering an automated and more efficient approach. This digital approach can enhance accuracy, save time, and provide better tracking of student records. This study aims to compare the effectiveness, efficiency, and user experience of manual and digital student enrollment processes in secondary schools in Lokoja.

Statement of the problem
Many secondary schools in Lokoja continue to rely on manual enrollment systems despite the growing availability of digital alternatives. The challenge lies in evaluating whether digital enrollment processes offer significant advantages over manual methods, such as improved efficiency, accuracy, and user satisfaction. This study seeks to compare both approaches and assess their effectiveness in secondary schools.

Objectives of the study

  1. To compare the efficiency and effectiveness of manual and digital student enrollment processes in secondary schools in Lokoja.

  2. To assess the level of user satisfaction with manual and digital student enrollment systems in Lokoja secondary schools.

  3. To identify the barriers and benefits of transitioning from manual to digital student enrollment processes in Lokoja secondary schools.

Research questions

  1. How do manual and digital student enrollment processes compare in terms of efficiency and effectiveness in secondary schools in Lokoja?

  2. What is the level of user satisfaction with manual and digital student enrollment processes in Lokoja secondary schools?

  3. What challenges and benefits are associated with adopting digital student enrollment processes in secondary schools in Lokoja?

Significance of the study
This study will provide valuable insights into the advantages of digital student enrollment systems, offering schools guidance on improving administrative processes and ensuring better management of student data.

Scope and limitations of the study
The study is limited to secondary schools in Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State, and compares manual and digital student enrollment processes. It does not extend to other educational levels or regions.
